Job Summary
The EHS Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards across commercial interior fit-out project sites. The role ensures compliance with company policies, client requirements, and statutory regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture. The incumbent will lead site safety inspections, risk assessments, permit-to-work management, incident investigations, safety training programs, and emergency preparedness initiatives to ensure safe project execution and achievement of organizational EHS objectives.
Key Responsibilities
EHS Management & Compliance
- Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and safety management systems across project sites.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, client requirements, and company safety standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure adherence to project EHS requirements.
- Ensure all work activities are executed in accordance with approved safety procedures and risk control measures.
Hazard Identification & Risk Management
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) for project activities.
- Review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.
- Identify safety hazards and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Monitor high-risk activities including work at height, hot work, lifting operations, electrical work, and confined space activities.
Permit-to-Work (PTW) Management
- Administer and monitor Permit-to-Work systems for critical activities.
- Ensure permits are properly authorized, implemented, and closed.
- Verify compliance with permit requirements before work commencement.
Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain incident records and ensure timely reporting to management and clients.
- Track closure of corrective actions arising from investigations.
Training & Safety Awareness
- Conduct EHS induction programs for employees, workers, subcontractors, and visitors.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness programs.
- Promote behavioral safety initiatives and continuous safety improvement.
- Develop safety communication materials and awareness content.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for project sites.
- Organize emergency drills, mock exercises, and evacuation programs.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of emergency equipment, first-aid facilities, and firefighting systems.
- Coordinate emergency response activities during incidents.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain EHS records, registers, permits, audit reports, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly EHS performance reports.
- Monitor and report safety KPIs, observations, incidents, and compliance metrics.
- Support client audits, external inspections, and certification requirements.
Environmental Management
- Monitor environmental compliance related to waste management, dust control, noise management, and housekeeping.
- Promote environmentally sustainable practices across project sites.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project requirements.
Leadership & Coordination
- Guide and supervise Assistant EHS Officers, EHS Supervisors, and EHS Stewards.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors on EHS matters.
- Support achievement of project safety objectives and organizational EHS goals.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, or any related discipline.
- Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Fire & Safety, or equivalent.
Experience
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in EHS within Commercial Interior Fit-Out, Construction, Infrastructure, Industrial, or Manufacturing projects.
- Strong experience in site safety management and statutory compliance.
- Experience managing subcontractor safety and permit-to-work systems.
- Knowledge of client EHS requirements and safety audits.
Certifications (Preferred)
- NEBOSH IGC.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- OSHA Certification.
- First Aid & CPR Certification.
- ISO 45001 Internal Auditor Certification.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
