Role description

Java Technical Lead / Solution Architect

Job Summary

The Java Technical Lead / Solution Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications using Java and modern backend technologies. The role requires strong hands-on development expertise along with architectural capabilities to define technical solutions, mentor development teams, and drive best practices across Java, Microservices, Cloud, and event-driven architectures.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable, high-performance Java-based enterprise applications.
Define solution architecture and provide technical leadership for backend applications.
Develop RESTful APIs and Microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
Design event-driven solutions using Kafka messaging.
Build and deploy cloud-native applications on Azure and/or AWS.
Develop and optimize applications using SQL and NoSQL databases.
Implement containerized applications using Kubernetes.
Review application architecture, code quality, and technical designs.
Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production issue resolution.
Mentor development teams and establish coding standards and best practices.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and Business stakeholders.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive end-to-end technical delivery.

Must Have Skills

Strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE development.
Expertise in Core Java (Java 8+), Collections, Multithreading, and Concurrency.
Strong experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
Hands-on experience in Microservices architecture.
Experience developing REST APIs, REST/JSON, and SOAP Web Services.
Strong knowledge of Kafka for event-driven architectures.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Cloud.
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Knowledge of Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD pipelines, and SDLC best practices.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system design.
Excellent debugging, performance tuning, and analytical skills.

Good to Have Skills

Experience with Docker and containerization.
Experience in solution architecture or technical leadership roles.
Knowledge of cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices.
Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, ELK, Prometheus, or Splunk.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) is an advantage.
Azure or AWS Cloud certifications are preferred.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
