Job Title: Flutter Mobile Engineer
Liabify is a UAE-based fintech platform building secure salary-linked financial services for employers and employees across the GCC. Our LiaPay mobile app supports earned wage access, prepaid-card services, and digital payments in a regulated financial environment.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Flutter Mobile Engineer to become the primary owner of Liabify's mobile application initiatives. You will take work from problem discovery and requirement clarification through architecture, development, testing, store release, production monitoring, and continuous improvement.
This is an ownership role, not only a ticket-execution role. You are expected to maintain the mobile backlog, identify product and technical improvements, propose priorities, challenge unclear requirements, escalate risks early, and work closely with Product, UI/UX, backend, QA, DevOps, security, and compliance teams.
Core Responsibilities
Mobile Product Ownership & Collaboration
End-to-End Ownership: Own the Flutter application lifecycle from discovery and solution design through implementation, release, monitoring, support, and improvement.
Mobile Backlog: Maintain and improve the mobile backlog across features, defects, technical debt, dependency upgrades, security findings, performance, analytics, and user experience.
Cross-Team Delivery: Work directly with backend engineers on API contracts, with QA on testability and regression coverage, with UI/UX on feasible designs, and with DevOps on safe mobile delivery automation.
Proactive Improvement: Bring forward mobile initiatives and evidence-based recommendations instead of waiting for fully prepared requirements or detailed instructions.
Flutter Engineering & Architecture
Flutter & Dart: Build maintainable, modular, responsive, and accessible applications using current stable Flutter and Dart, sound null safety, static analysis, and consistent coding standards.
Architecture: Apply clear separation of concerns, dependency injection, appropriate state management, reusable components, and testable data and domain layers without unnecessary complexity.
API & Integration: Integrate REST APIs, authentication services, payment or card-processing services, push notifications, deep links, and third-party SDKs with resilient error handling and observable failure states.
Platform Capabilities: Handle Android and iOS permissions, app lifecycle, background behavior, secure local storage, biometrics, device compatibility, and native integrations where needed.
Maintainability: Review code, manage dependencies, plan framework and operating-system upgrades, remove obsolete code, and document important architectural decisions.
Quality, Security & Performance
Automated Quality: Create and maintain risk-based unit, widget, integration, and end-to-end tests; use mocks or fakes appropriately and keep critical user journeys regression-safe.
Secure Mobile Engineering: Apply secure authentication and session handling, least-data storage, encryption in transit, safe logging, secrets protection, and mobile security practices aligned with OWASP MASVS and fintech requirements.
Performance: Profile and improve startup time, UI and raster jank, memory, network efficiency, battery impact, app size, and responsiveness across representative devices.
Accessibility & Experience: Support responsive layouts, text scaling, semantic navigation, platform conventions, localization, and reliable behavior across supported Android and iOS versions.
Production Reliability: Investigate crashes and user-impacting defects, support incident response and hotfixes, complete root-cause analysis, and prevent recurrence.
Release, Analytics & AI-Enabled Development
Store & Release Ownership: Manage build variants, signing, certificates, provisioning, versioning, release notes, privacy declarations, staged rollouts, and releases through Google Play and Apple App Store processes.
CI/CD: Improve automated build, analysis, test, security-check, packaging, and deployment workflows using the team's selected CI/CD platform.
Analytics & Observability: Instrument meaningful product events and release-health signals; use crash reporting, logs, performance data, adoption funnels, and user feedback to prioritize improvements.
Daily AI Use: Use approved AI copilots and agents to accelerate implementation, refactoring, test creation, debugging, log analysis, code review, documentation, dependency assessment, and release preparation.
Responsible AI: Review, test, and validate AI-generated work before use; never expose credentials, source secrets, customer data, payment data, or confidential information to unapproved tools.
Required Experience & Skills
Strong professional mobile development experience (typically 3+ years), with demonstrable production experience in Flutter and Dart; equivalent capability may be considered.
Evidence of releasing and maintaining Android and iOS applications in production, including practical App Store and Google Play publishing experience.
Strong understanding of Flutter architecture, state management, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, API integration, local storage, caching, and error handling.
Practical use of Git, pull requests, code review, automated testing, static analysis, debugging, profiling, and CI/CD workflows.
Understanding of mobile authentication, secure token handling, privacy, sensitive-data protection, and secure coding practices.
Ability to work independently, make pragmatic technical decisions, communicate clearly, document work, and escalate risks before they become blockers.
Comfort using AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly and converting useful AI-assisted work into reviewed, reusable team practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Fintech, payments, prepaid-card, digital-wallet, lending, or other regulated mobile-product experience.
Familiarity with OWASP MASVS, PCI DSS boundaries, OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, biometrics, certificate pinning where risk-appropriate, and mobile tamper-resistance concepts.
Experience with Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, Application Insights, product analytics, feature flags, or remote configuration.
Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Codemagic, Fastlane, or similar mobile automation tooling.
Working knowledge of Kotlin or Swift for plugins, platform channels, SDK integration, or native troubleshooting.
Experience with Arabic/English localization, right-to-left interfaces, accessibility testing, or a broad Android device matrix.
What Success Looks Like
Mobile releases become predictable, automated, observable, and safer to roll out or recover.
Critical customer journeys remain secure, tested, responsive, and reliable across supported devices.
Crashes, recurring defects, manual release work, and avoidable mobile technical debt decrease over time.
The mobile backlog stays current, evidence-based, and aligned with customer and business priorities.
Mobile improvements originate proactively from this role and are documented so the wider team becomes more capable.
