Role Description
We are looking for a highly capable and experienced Factory Laundry Manager / Supervisor to lead operations at our high-capacity laundry and dry-cleaning processing unit.
The facility handles 100% customer garments, including wet wash, wet cleaning, stain treatment, dry cleaning, finishing, quality control, packing, and dispatch, with a processing capacity of up to 10,000 garments per day.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of commercial laundry operations, garment care, stain removal, laundry chemicals, industrial machinery, workforce management, quality control, and standard operating procedures.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bengaluru.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations and Production Management
- Plan, execute, and monitor complete daily laundry and dry-cleaning operations.
- Manage the process from garment inward, sorting, stain treatment, washing, drying, finishing, quality control, packing, and dispatch.
- Ensure all garments are processed within the committed turnaround time.
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining required quality standards.
- Prepare production and shift plans based on order volume, delivery priority, manpower, and machine capacity.
- Ensure maximum utilisation of washers, dryers, dry-cleaning machines, steam presses, and finishing equipment.
- Monitor work-in-progress, delayed orders, hold garments, express orders, and pending production.
- Reduce production bottlenecks, idle time, reprocessing, and unnecessary movement of garments.
Technical and Chemical Management
- Supervise stain identification, spotting, wash classification, chemical dosing, and program selection.
- Ensure correct processing based on fabric type, colour, care label, stain category, garment condition, and service requirement.
- Optimise wash formulas, chemical dosage, temperature, cycle duration, drum speed, rinsing, drying, and finishing parameters.
- Guide the spotting and washing teams on handling oil, grease, food, ink, blood, dye transfer, rust, mud, paint, cosmetics, and other difficult stains.
- Ensure safe and controlled use of detergents, emulsifiers, oxygen bleach, neutralisers, softeners, spotting agents, reducing agents, and finishing chemicals.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of dry-cleaning solvents, including PERC and hydrocarbon solvents.
- Prevent garment damage, shrinkage, colour bleeding, fading, chemical marks, odour, loss of shape, and fabric distortion.
- Maintain chemical consumption standards and control unnecessary chemical wastage.
Machinery and Maintenance Coordination
- Monitor the performance of industrial washers, hydro extractors, dryers, dry-cleaning machines, spotting tables, steam presses, utility presses, boilers, compressors, and other production equipment.
- Ensure correct machine loading, program selection, operating temperature, pressure, speed, and cycle time.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance, servicing, and breakdown repairs.
- Maintain machine operating logs, maintenance records, and breakdown reports.
- Ensure production continuity during machine breakdowns by reallocating loads and adjusting production plans.
- Report abnormal noise, vibration, leakage, steam loss, dosing errors, electrical issues, or unsafe machine conditions immediately.
- Ensure ETP and STP systems are operational, monitored, and properly documented.
Team and Workforce Management
- Lead and manage a large production workforce of up to 200 or more employees.
- Manage washers, dry-cleaning operators, stain spotters, pressmen, folders, packers, quality controllers, loaders, supervisors, and team leaders.
- Prepare shift schedules and allocate manpower based on daily workload and department requirements.
- Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, discipline, productivity, and performance.
- Set clear hourly and daily production targets for each department.
- Train employees on garment handling, stain treatment, chemical usage, machine operation, quality standards, and workplace safety.
- Identify skill gaps and organise regular technical and operational training.
- Maintain employee morale, teamwork, discipline, and workplace accountability.
- Handle employee performance issues in coordination with HR and management.
Quality Control and SOP Compliance
- Establish and maintain quality standards across every stage of garment processing.
- Conduct batch-wise and random quality checks during washing, drying, pressing, finishing, folding, and packing.
- Ensure 100% quality control is completed before packing and dispatch.
- Ensure garments are free from stains, odour, moisture, wrinkles, lint, chemical residue, pressing marks, and visible damage.
- Implement and regularly update standard operating procedures for sorting, spotting, washing, dry cleaning, drying, pressing, quality control, packing, rewash, and rejection.
- Monitor rewash, re-pressing, stain-not-removed, damage, rejection, and customer complaint percentages.
- Investigate repeated quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure high-risk, premium, designer, silk, wool, embellished, and delicate garments are processed separately.
- Review damaged, rejected, or high-value garments and escalate serious cases to management.
Customer Complaint and Rewash Management
- Investigate complaints related to stains, shrinkage, colour loss, garment damage, odour, poor finishing, missing items, and delayed delivery.
- Review garment processing history, wash program, chemicals used, employee handling, machine logs, and quality records.
- Determine the root cause of complaints and provide corrective action.
- Approve or reject rewash, re-spotting, re-pressing, repair, or hold decisions.
- Coordinate with customer support and retail teams regarding garment issues and resolutions.
- Analyse recurring complaints and implement preventive measures.
Safety, Hygiene, and Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and 5S standards throughout the factory.
- Ensure employees use the required personal protective equipment.
- Enforce safe handling of chemicals, solvents, steam systems, electrical equipment, and hot surfaces.
- Ensure chemical containers are labelled, stored correctly, and accompanied by safety documentation.
- Keep emergency exits, walkways, fire equipment, electrical panels, and machine-access areas clear.
- Report and investigate accidents, near misses, burns, spills, and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure compliance with factory safety requirements, environmental procedures, and internal company policies.
Reporting and MIS
- Maintain accurate daily production and operational records.
- Prepare and review MIS reports covering:
- Total garments received and processed
- Department-wise production
- Daily target versus achievement
- Rewash and rework
- Rejections and garment damage
- Stain-not-removed cases
- Delayed and pending orders
- Machine utilisation and downtime
- Employee productivity
- Chemical consumption and inventory
- Customer complaints and corrective actions
- Monitor chemical and consumable inventory and raise purchase requisitions on time.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to management.
- Highlight operational risks, quality concerns, manpower shortages, and improvement opportunities.

The performance of the Factory Laundry Manager / Supervisor will be measured based on:

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial laundry, industrial laundry, hotel laundry, garment-care, or dry-cleaning plant operations.
- Strong technical knowledge of laundry chemicals, detergents, solvents, stain-removal procedures, wash formulas, and garment-care processes.
- Hands-on experience with wet wash, wet cleaning, dry cleaning, stain spotting, drying, pressing, finishing, quality control, and packing.
- Proven experience managing large production teams and achieving targets under strict turnaround-time requirements.
- Strong understanding of industrial laundry machines and preventive maintenance practices.
- Experience in factory MIS, production reporting, inventory tracking, chemical consumption, and machine maintenance logs.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume factory environment.
- Working knowledge of English and Hindi.
- Knowledge of Kannada will be an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing a laundry facility processing 10,000 or more garments per day.
- Experience in a B2C laundry or premium garment-care business.
- Familiarity with Seitz, Diversey, Ecolab, or similar commercial laundry chemicals.
- Experience operating or supervising Forenta, Pony, Sankosha, Sailstar, or similar industrial laundry and finishing equipment.
- Knowledge of hot presses, utility presses, shirt finishers, trouser toppers, cuff-and-collar presses, and steam-finishing equipment.
- Experience implementing SOPs, productivity standards, quality systems, 5S, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
