Job Summary
Meluha International School is seeking a highly disciplined, student-focused, and academically driven Study Hour Vice Principal to lead and oversee the academic study program for residential and day-boarding students. The Study Hour Vice Principal will be responsible for ensuring structured, productive, and outcome-oriented study hours that reinforce classroom learning, improve academic performance, and cultivate self-discipline among students.
Working closely with the Principal, Vice Principal (Academics), Academic Coordinators, Heads of Departments, Hostel Wardens, and subject teachers, the Study Hour Vice Principal will design, implement, monitor, and continuously improve the school's supervised study program. The role requires strong academic leadership, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to motivate students while maintaining discipline and accountability.
The ideal candidate should possess extensive teaching and academic leadership experience, excellent student management skills, and a deep understanding of academic planning, remedial education, examination preparation, and residential school operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Study Hour Planning & Academic Supervision
- Develop and implement structured study hour schedules for residential and day-boarding students across Grades 1–12.
- Ensure study hours are academically productive, well-organised, and aligned with curriculum objectives.
- Monitor the effective utilisation of study periods to reinforce classroom learning.
- Supervise daily study hour operations and ensure strict adherence to schedules.
- Allocate subject-wise study sessions based on academic priorities, examination schedules, and student learning needs.
- Maintain a structured, distraction-free, and disciplined learning environment during study hours.
- Coordinate subject-specific revision plans before periodic, half-yearly, and annual examinations.
2. Academic Monitoring & Student Performance
- Monitor students' academic progress and identify learning gaps through continuous performance analysis.
- Work closely with subject teachers to identify students requiring additional academic support.
- Develop intervention strategies for slow learners and academically at-risk students.
- Ensure completion of homework, assignments, projects, and revision tasks during study hours.
- Track student attendance during study sessions and monitor consistency in academic engagement.
- Analyse examination performance and recommend improvement strategies.
- Maintain academic progress records and prepare periodic performance reports.
3. Teacher & Study Faculty Management
- Supervise study hour teachers, tutors, hostel academic mentors, and support staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and allocate faculty responsibilities during study hours.
- Conduct regular observations to ensure effective academic support and classroom management.
- Guide teachers in implementing differentiated learning strategies.
- Conduct meetings with study faculty to review academic progress and operational effectiveness.
- Promote collaboration between study hour faculty and subject teachers to improve student outcomes.
4. Student Discipline & Residential Academic Management
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, and academic integrity throughout study hours.
- Foster a focused, respectful, and positive learning environment.
- Address behavioural concerns that affect academic productivity.
- Work closely with Hostel Wardens to ensure students maintain effective study routines.
- Monitor hostel students' academic discipline and learning habits.
- Counsel students on time management, study techniques, examination preparation, and academic goal setting.
- Encourage self-directed learning and personal accountability.
5. Examination Planning & Academic Support
- Coordinate examination preparation schedules across all grades.
- Develop structured revision timetables and subject-specific study plans.
- Ensure students receive adequate academic guidance before examinations.
- Monitor assignment completion, project submissions, and assessment readiness.
- Support teachers in organising remedial classes, doubt-clearing sessions, and enrichment programmes.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of study hour programmes through academic performance analysis.
6. Parent Communication & Student Progress
- Meet parents to discuss students' academic progress and study habits whenever required.
- Provide constructive feedback regarding academic performance and improvement plans.
- Collaborate with parents to establish effective home and hostel study routines.
- Address academic concerns professionally and recommend suitable intervention strategies.
- Maintain regular communication regarding students requiring additional academic attention.
7. Academic Administration & Coordination
- Coordinate with the Principal, Vice Principal (Academics), Academic Coordinators, Heads of Departments, and Hostel Administration.
- Ensure implementation of school academic policies during study hours.
- Maintain accurate documentation relating to attendance, academic monitoring, study schedules, and intervention programmes.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on study hour effectiveness and student performance.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Support institutional academic initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.
8. Strategic Academic Improvement
- Analyse academic data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop initiatives to improve student engagement, independent learning, and examination outcomes.
- Introduce innovative study methodologies and evidence-based learning strategies.
- Recommend improvements to study hour structures based on academic performance data.
- Support school-wide academic excellence initiatives and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Education or a relevant subject.
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
- Additional qualifications in Educational Leadership, School Administration, Psychology, or Educational Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of teaching experience in CBSE schools.
- Minimum 3–5 years of academic leadership experience as Vice Principal, Academic Coordinator, Head of Department or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a residential or day-boarding school will be highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in examination planning, student mentoring, academic monitoring, and curriculum implementation is essential.
