Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Azure Technical Project Manager with 10+ years of IT Project Management experience and strong technical exposure to Microsoft Azure, infrastructure, application modernization, migration, and integration projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading complex, high-visibility Azure initiatives, coordinating global technical teams, managing project risks and dependencies, and ensuring successful delivery aligned with business and technology objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex, high-visibility Azure technology initiatives to achieve critical IT and business objectives.
- Manage end-to-end delivery of Azure migration, modernization, infrastructure, application, and integration projects.
- Work closely with technical architects, engineering leads, application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to define and execute project strategies.
- Develop a strong understanding of business and technology objectives and translate them into effective Azure delivery and migration strategies.
- Lead and motivate project team members across multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring effective collaboration and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with global delivery teams, offshore/onshore resources, vendors, and client stakeholders.
- Develop and manage detailed task plans for Azure Technical Architects, Solution Architects, Technical Leads, Engineers, and offshore project resources.
- Manage all aspects of the technical project lifecycle, including scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, milestones, and deliverables.
- Identify, document, track, and communicate technical dependencies, project risks, assumptions, constraints, and issues to key stakeholders.
- Create and maintain high-level project plans, detailed technical task plans, resource allocation plans, communication plans, and project schedules.
- Facilitate project governance activities, including status reviews, steering committee meetings, technical discussions, business go/no-go decision calls, and stakeholder presentations.
- Ensure appropriate project documentation is maintained, including project plans, RAID logs, status reports, decision logs, technical dependencies, lessons learned, and closure documentation.
- Drive effective Azure migration and implementation planning, ensuring technical readiness, testing, deployment, cutover, rollback, and transition activities are appropriately coordinated.
- Ensure successful transition to steady-state operations/support teams at the completion of projects, including knowledge transfer, documentation, operational readiness, and handover.
- Utilize Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or other project scheduling and delivery management tools to effectively manage project timelines, tasks, dependencies, and resources.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand technical concepts across Azure infrastructure, applications, networking, security, databases, integrations, and cloud migration sufficiently to effectively manage technical delivery.
- Establish strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders and proactively manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply systematic and logical thinking to problem solving, project planning, risk management, and decision-making.
- Drive projects toward successful outcomes through strong ownership, accountability, execution focus, and change management.
- Provide clear and concise oral and written communication, including executive-level project reporting and presentations.
- Act as a strong client-facing technical project manager, representing the project team in meetings, presentations, governance forums, and key decision-making discussions.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in IT Project Management, preferably managing complex technology transformation and cloud projects.
- Strong experience managing Microsoft Azure projects, particularly cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, application migration/modernization, and integration initiatives.
- Good understanding of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including Azure infrastructure, networking, security, compute, storage, databases, integration, and monitoring services.
- Experience managing technical migration and transformation projects involving infrastructure and applications.
- Strong understanding of technical dependencies across applications, infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, and data platforms.
- Experience working with global and distributed delivery teams.
- Strong stakeholder, client, vendor, and senior management communication skills.
- Proven experience managing project schedules, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, scope, and budgets.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent project management/scheduling tools.
- Strong experience in project governance, reporting, RAID management, change management, and delivery governance.
- Excellent documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Results-oriented, self-directed, and capable of driving change and achieving project objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Fundamentals would be an advantage.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing Azure landing zone, cloud adoption, data migration, application modernization, or enterprise cloud transformation programs is highly desirable.
