ROLE OVERVIEW
The Sales Manager at Vagus Energy is responsible for leading and supporting the sales team, managing the sales pipeline, and ensuring leads are actively followed up and progressed toward conversion. The role combines hands-on sales involvement with team leadership, CRM management, client communication, proposal oversight, performance monitoring, and management reporting. The Sales Manager is expected to maintain visibility over individual and team performance, identify areas requiring support, and drive consistent achievement of sales objectives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A strong passion for renewable energy and sustainability
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or client management.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a sales team.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Good understanding of CRM systems, sales pipelines, and performance tracking.
- Ability to analyze sales data, monitor targets, and prepare clear management reports.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a target-driven environment.
Desirable
- Experience in the renewable energy or related industries.
- Understanding of the solar, battery storage, EV charging, or HVAC systems
- Familiarity with sales strategies and techniques specific to the energy sector
- Exposure to proposal and quotation processes
- Experience working closely with technical, design, or project-delivery teams.

1. Lead Management & Client Prospecting
- Personally manage assigned leads and conduct prospecting and outreach through calls, emails, referrals, and direct enquiries.
- Ensure leads assigned to the wider sales team are actively followed up and progressed appropriately.
- Regularly review unattended, inactive, or high-potential opportunities and take action where required.
- Support team members in prioritising prospects and improving lead engagement.
- Maintain accurate lead information and follow-up activity in the CRM while ensuring the team follows the same standard.
2. Proposal, Quotation & Sales Conversion
- Personally prepare and manage proposals and quotations for assigned clients.
- Ensure proposals prepared by the sales team accurately reflect customer requirements, approved pricing, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with relevant internal teams for technical, design, or pricing clarification where required.
- Follow up outstanding proposals and ensure the team is consistently doing the same.
- Support team members with negotiations, objections, and closing discussions while actively working toward personal sales conversions.
3. Client Communication & Relationship Management
- Maintain regular and professional communication with assigned clients throughout the sales process.
- Personally follow up enquiries, outstanding information, proposals, and customer decisions.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of client communication across the sales team.
- Support team members with complex, sensitive, or stalled customer opportunities where additional assistance is required.
- Maintain accurate client communication records in the CRM and lead by example in customer service and follow-through.
4. Sales Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead the sales team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day sales activities.
- Regularly review each salesperson's leads, follow-up activity, pipeline, and sales results.
- Identify areas where team members require coaching, additional support, or closer follow-up.
- Keep the team focused on agreed priorities, sales targets, and outstanding actions.
- Address repeated performance gaps and escalate significant concerns to management or HR where appropriate.
5. CRM, Pipeline & Sales Data Management
- Personally maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records for assigned leads and opportunities.
- Ensure the sales team consistently updates lead status, client communication, next actions, and deal outcomes.
- Review the overall pipeline to identify stalled opportunities, upcoming conversions, and areas requiring attention.
- Analyse CRM and sales data to understand conversion trends, lost-deal reasons, and individual performance.
- Maintain a high standard of CRM discipline personally and ensure the same level of accountability across the team.
6. KPI Monitoring, Management Reporting & Sales Coordination
- Achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and revenue targets.
- Gross margin and overall sales team performance.
- Lead, appointment, proposal, and sales conversion rates.
- Sales pipeline value, quality, progression, and qualified opportunities.
- Lead follow-up, response times, and reduction of inactive opportunities.
- CRM accuracy, data quality, and compliance.
- Sales forecasting accuracy and sales cycle performance.
- Team coaching, development, and performance improvement.
- Customer satisfaction, retention, referrals, and repeat business.
- Compliance with company pricing, approval, documentation, and sales processes.
