Role: Scrum Master / Project Manager

iLabor: 161204

Duration: 6–12 Month Contract; client intends to extend or convert to full-time and reserves the right to hire at any time during the engagement.

Location: Remote during the contract period; local candidates only. Upon conversion to a full-time employee (which may occur anytime after 6 months), candidates must be able to work in a 3-days-per-week hybrid model from either Hyderabad or Chennai.

Role Overview

We are seeking a hybrid Scrum Master and Project Manager for a significant modernization effort. The selected candidate will support a multi-year project focused on moving legacy mainframe applications to the cloud while adding new business enhancements. This position requires a professional who can establish governance, manage project milestones, and ensure full transparency with stakeholders in an adapted Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct Agile ceremonies and manage project milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues.
Support the Product Owner with release planning and maintaining a healthy, prioritized backlog.
Build strong partnerships with the Product Owner, IT lead, and squad through open communication.
Manage project schedules and coordinate resources to deliver projects within budget and timeline.
Champion continuous improvement within the squad and adapt to process changes.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills: Proficiency with Jira is required. Experience with PPM tools is a nice-to-have.
Soft Skills: Must be assertive and possess the ability to push back when necessary to ensure project integrity. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to navigate stakeholder dynamics and build rapport with squad members.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Previous software development lifecycle experience.
Experience in high-risk financial services environments.
Scrum Master certification is a plus.

Strong risk, issue, dependency, and milestone management experience.

Jira experience required.
PPM experience is nice to have.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct Agile ceremonies (DTCC uses an adapted Agile methodology).
Manage project milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues.
Maintain full transparency with stakeholders.
Support an established Product Owner who owns prioritization and story grooming.
Build strong partnerships with Product Owner, IT Lead, and squad members.

Critical Success Factors

Must have the confidence and backbone to challenge stakeholders when necessary.
Ability to escalate issues within days, not weeks.
Comfortable providing accurate status reporting, including raising risks and concerns.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Technical Environment

Process-first role; hands-on development experience is helpful but not required.
Mainframe modernization to AWS cloud.
Squad includes Product Owner, Tech Lead, Business Analyst, and Development teams.
Primary tools: Jira and PPM.

Preferred Background

Financial services experience is beneficial but not required.
Candidates from high-risk, highly regulated environments are preferred.
Modernization, transformation, cloud migration, or legacy application conversion experience is highly relevant.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
