Full job description

The Back-End Developer plays a critical role in the design, development, and maintenance of the server-side logic, databases, and application architecture. This position focuses on creating scalable, high-performance systems and ensuring the seamless functionality of back-end components that support client-facing applications. The Back-End Developer works closely with front-end developers, system architects, and project teams to deliver efficient and reliable solutions. The role requires strong expertise in server-side programming, database management, and API integration to create robust back-end systems.

Designing and developing server:

Side applications based on client requirements and project goals.

Writing clean, scalable, and efficient server-side code using programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, etc.) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Django, Spring, Express, etc.).

Implementing RESTful or GraphQL APIs to support front-end functionality and client integrations.

Building and managing databases, ensuring data integrity and optimizing database performance.

Writing scripts and procedures for automating back-end processes and data workflows.

Ensuring the application’s scalability and maintaining high-performance, responsive systems under varying loads.

System Integration and API Development:

Collaborating with front-end developers to define and implement the integration points between back-end and front-end systems.

Developing and integrating third-party APIs and services to enhance the application’s functionality.

Ensuring the seamless interaction between internal and external systems, providing robust, secure, and efficient data exchange.

Designing and implementing microservices and distributed systems when appropriate.

Database Management and Optimization:

Designing and maintaining relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.).

Writing optimized queries, indexing strategies, and database migrations.

Monitoring database performance and applying necessary optimizations to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval.

Ensuring secure data storage practices, including data encryption and protection against unauthorized access.

Project Collaboration and Agile Development:

Collaborating with project managers and front-end developers to understand requirements and ensure successful delivery of back-end functionality.

Participating in agile methodologies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.

Developing timelines and milestones for back-end development tasks and ensuring adherence to deadlines.

Contributing to the project scope by suggesting improvements and optimizations to the back-end architecture based on feedback.

Testing, Debugging, and Quality Assurance:

Writing and executing unit tests and performing integration tests to ensure the back-end components function correctly.

Debugging issues and implementing fixes or optimizations for backend services and APIs.

Identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing system architecture for scalability.

Incorporating continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) best practices into development workflows.

Ensuring the back-end systems meet the required security standards and are free from vulnerabilities.

Documentation and Reporting:

Creating technical documentation for back-end components, including API endpoints, database schema, and integration processes.

Documenting back-end logic, algorithms, and system design for easy reference and future maintenance.

Providing clear and concise reports to stakeholders on system performance, development progress, and any issues encountered.

Security and Compliance:

Ensuring all back-end services comply with industry best practices and security protocols.

Implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, such as OAuth, JWT, or role-based access control (RBAC), to protect sensitive data.

Keeping up to date with the latest security threats and vulnerabilities and taking proactive steps to mitigate risks.

Ensuring the compliance of back-end systems with regulatory standards, such as GDPR or HIPAA, depending on the domain.

Collaboration and Team Support:

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to ensure smooth project delivery.

Providing technical guidance and support to junior developers and team members.

Actively participating in code reviews, providing feedback to maintain code quality and best practices.

Engaging in knowledge-sharing sessions and contributing to the overall technical growth of the team.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

Setting up tools to monitor back-end systems for performance, uptime, and error reporting.

Analyzing system performance and taking actions to optimize resource usage and reduce latency.

Continuously improving back-end architecture to meet evolving business needs and user expectations.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

Adhering to organizational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Identifying and mitigating potential risks related to back-end software development activities, ensuring a secure and productive workspace for the team.

Job Type: Full-time
