Full job description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to independently manage the end-to-end accounting and finance operations of the organization.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in UAE accounting practices, VAT compliance, Corporate Tax requirements, financial reporting, and general accounting operations. Since this is an individual contributor role, the candidate should be capable of handling the complete accounting function with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts.
Record day-to-day financial transactions.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
Perform bank, customer, vendor, and intercompany reconciliations.
Ensure proper accounting documentation and record management.
Maintain financial records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.

2. Accounts Receivable (AR)

Generate customer invoices accurately and on time.
Track customer payments and outstanding receivables.
Follow up with customers regarding overdue payments.
Maintain customer account statements and reconciliation reports.
Coordinate with internal teams regarding billing requirements.
Monitor collection cycles and prepare aging reports.

3. Accounts Payable (AP)

Process vendor invoices and verify supporting documents.
Maintain vendor records and payment schedules.
Prepare payment requests and coordinate payment processing.
Reconcile supplier statements.
Ensure timely settlement of vendor obligations.
Monitor outstanding payables and prepare AP reports.

4. UAE VAT Compliance

Prepare and maintain VAT-related records and documentation.
Ensure proper VAT treatment for sales and purchase transactions.
Prepare VAT workings and reconciliations.
Support VAT return filing and submission.
Coordinate with tax consultants regarding VAT-related matters.
Ensure compliance with UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) requirements.

5. UAE Corporate Tax Compliance

Maintain records required for UAE Corporate Tax compliance.
Assist in preparing corporate tax schedules and supporting documents.
Coordinate with tax consultants and auditors.
Support corporate tax calculations and reporting requirements.
Monitor regulatory changes related to UAE taxation.

6. Financial Reporting & MIS

Prepare monthly financial reports and management reports.
Generate Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports.
Prepare business performance and financial analysis reports.
Support management in financial planning and decision-making.
Prepare ad-hoc reports as required by management.

7. Month-End & Year-End Closure

Execute month-end closing activities.
Ensure timely completion of all accounting entries.
Reconcile all accounts before closure.
Prepare schedules and supporting documents for audits.
Assist in year-end financial statement preparation.

8. Payroll & Employee Financial Administration

Coordinate payroll inputs with HR.
Verify employee reimbursements and expense claims.
Maintain payroll-related records.
Support final settlement calculations where required.
Ensure compliance with company payroll processes.

9. Audit & Compliance Support

Coordinate internal and external audit requirements.
Maintain audit-ready documentation.
Prepare audit schedules and reconciliations.
Support statutory compliance activities.
Ensure adherence to company financial controls and procedures.

10. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

Monitor company cash flow position.
Track incoming and outgoing payments.
Maintain payment forecasts.
Assist management with cash flow planning and fund utilization.
Monitor banking transactions and reconciliations.

11. Systems & Process Management

Manage accounting records within accounting software.
Maintain accounting master data.
Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
Support implementation and optimization of finance tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience.
Prior experience handling UAE accounting operations is preferred.
Experience working independently and managing complete accounting functions.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of UAE VAT regulations and processes.
Understanding of UAE Corporate Tax requirements.
Expertise in bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable management.
Financial reporting and reconciliation expertise.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with accounting software.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Zoho Books and Zoho Finance applications. (Good to have)
Experience working with UAE-based companies. (Good to have)
Exposure to consulting, IT services, or professional services industries. (Must have)
Professional certifications such as CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent are an added advantage.
