Your Job
In this role, you will leverage powerful design tools such as Altium, FMEA, and DVP&R to create innovative solutions and overcome technical challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, take ownership of product designs, and contribute to delivering outstanding results within schedule, under the mentorship of experienced engineering leaders.
Our Team
Are you an inventive engineer driven by solving complex problems and bringing cutting-edge product designs to life? At Molex, we are looking for a passionate Engineer, Electrical Design to join our Vehicle Sensing Solutions team, where your expertise in fundamental engineering principles and critical thinking will directly influence the development of advanced, high-performance products.
At Molex, you will be part of a forward-thinking culture that values creativity, continuous learning, and pushing the boundaries of technology. If you are ready to accelerate your career and help shape the future of engineering excellence, apply today and join our dynamic team!
What You Will Do:
Design & Development
- Design electrical and electronic systems for automotive applications, including conceptual block diagrams, detailed schematics, PCB layouts, and component selection.
- Apply DFx/DFM principles to produce cost-effective designs that meet customer performance and manufacturability requirements.
- Perform worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), simulations, and other risk-reduction analyses to validate design robustness.
EMC/EMI & Reliability
- Engineer products for EMC compliance and lead investigation and mitigation of EMI issues throughout development and validation.
- Use simulation and test-driven approaches to mitigate electrical noise, coupling, and emission/ immunity concerns.
Validation, Testing & Verification
- Develop Design Validation Plans (DVP) and obtain customer approvals; plan and execute laboratory, bench, vehicle, and simulated tests in accordance with the DVP.
- Create and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and scripts to verify performance, functionality, and durability against requirements.
- Support customer in-vehicle testing of electrical hardware and coordinate field validation activities.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
- Perform root cause analysis for hardware defects, implement corrective and preventive actions, and drive design changes to minimize recurrence.
- Stay current with advanced hardware testing methodologies and incorporate best practices to improve product quality and reliability.
Documentation, Process & Quality
- Maintain thorough engineering documentation and rigorous revision control for schematics, layouts, BOMs, test reports, and design changes.
- Support APQP activities, including DFMEA/PFMEA, formal design reviews, and production readiness.
- Collaborate in creating and implementing work instructions for manufacturing and assembly of new and ongoing products.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Costing
- Interface effectively with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and product/marketing teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Use knowledge of material costs and costing processes to assess design trade-offs and optimize for total cost of ownership.
Tools, Standards & Compliance
- Use Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout; apply circuit simulation and analysis tools as required.
- Apply WCCA, DFMEA, Six Sigma/TQM practices, and relevant ISO and EH&S standards in design and validation activities.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor of Science/Technology in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; MSEE a plus.
- 5+ years of hands-on electrical/electronic design experience, preferably in automotive.
- Good understanding of communication protocols such as I2C and SPI.
- Experience in creating schematics (Must) and PCB layouts using Altium or equivalent tools (Nice to have)
- Proficiency with circuit simulation tools and experience performing WCCA (Must)
- Experience with PLM/PDM or revision-control systems (e.g., Teamcenter)
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills for RCA and implementation of corrective actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across functions.
What Puts You Ahead:
- EE design experience in the automotive industry
- Automotive ECUs and sensors development knowledge and experience
- Experience developing and executing DVPs, test plans, and hands-on lab/bench testing.
- Familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA, and revision-control/documentation best practices.
- Practical experience with EMC/EMI design, mitigation techniques, and testing
