Full job description

Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations in the timber manufacturing facility to ensure production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational efficiency are achieved. The role involves supervising production teams, monitoring workflow, optimizing machine utilization, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management
Supervise and coordinate daily timber production activities to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Monitor production processes including cutting, sawing, seasoning, planing, sizing, and finishing operations.
Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials.
Maintain production records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to impro
Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, ave productivity.

Team Leadership

Lead, motivate, and manage production operators and workers.
Allocate work assignments and monitor employee performance.
Conduct shift briefings and ensure smooth communication among teams.
Assist in training new employees on production processes and safety procedures.

Quality Control

Ensure timber products meet specified quality standards and customer requirements.
Coordinate with Quality Control personnel to minimize defects and rework.
Monitor product dimensions, moisture content, grading, and finishing quality.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce workplace safety regulations and company safety policies.
Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure proper use of PPE.
Report accidents, incidents, and near-miss events promptly.
Ensure compliance with environmental and statutory regulations related to timber processing.

Maintenance Coordination

Coordinate with the maintenance department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Monitor machine performance and report operational issues.
Ensure proper housekeeping and equipment cleanliness in production areas
Inventory & Material Management
Monitor consumption of raw timber and production materials.
Coordinate with stores and procurement teams to ensure material availability.
Minimize wastage and improve material yield.

Required Qualifications:

Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Wood Technology, Forestry, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
3–8 years of experience in timber manufacturing, sawmill operations, plywood, veneer, furniture manufacturing, or wood processing industry.
Experience in supervising production teams and manufacturing operations.

Required Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of timber processing and manufacturing operations.
Understanding of production planning and process optimization.
Knowledge of quality control and safety standards.
Leadership and team management skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Production target achievement.
Machine utilization and operational efficiency.
Product quality and defect rate.
Material yield and wastage control.
Workplace safety compliance.
Downtime reduction.
Labor productivity and attendance management.
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing plant / sawmill environment.
Rotational shifts may be required.
Exposure to machinery, timber dust, and industrial equipment.
PPE compliance mandatory at all times.
Experience Preferred: 3–8 Years
Industry: Timber Processing, Sawmill, Plywood, Veneer, Furniture Manufacturing, Wood Products Industry.
