About the Water Data Exchange (WDE)

The Water Data Exchange (WDE) is an initiative to create an open digital infrastructure that enables access to credible, granular, and actionable water intelligence. WDE will unlock value across key use cases—such as water numeracy for farmers, risk forecasting for industries, and basin-level collaboration—by integrating diverse data sources and enabling an open infrastructure for the ecosystem to contribute, consume and collaborate on data and water intelligence. The program aims to impact 20 million households over five years on water security, through collaboration with government, corporate, civil society, and research stakeholders.

The Opportunity

As an Intern, you will support the team on ongoing execution of the overall WDE initiative. You will be a part of cross-functional teams, work closely with governments, companies, civil society organisations, on-ground partners, philanthropic partners and farmers to guide the WDE’s scaling journey from pilot to population-level adoption. This is a unique opportunity to shape a digital public good at the intersection of water sustainability, data, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management:

Contribute towards project planning and work closely with the project lead in maintaining governance routine to track progress of the project

Actively track project timelines and independently own multiple small deliverables or parts of larger deliverable

2. Internal Communications & Writing

Produce clear, engaging copy for internal communications and project updates.

Help maintain and update the WDE knowledge base

Assist in creating and formatting professional slide decks for internal presentations and stakeholder meetings.

Use tools like Canva or PowerPoint to create simple, high-impact visuals that summarize complex information.

3. Event Coordination & Logistics

Assist in the end-to-end coordination of workshops and virtual meetings.

Manage calendar invites, track RSVPs, and coordinate with external stakeholders when necessary.

Act as a point of contact during events to handle technical troubleshooting or administrative needs.

4. Administrative & Organisational Support

Assist in organizing digital filing systems and streamlining team processes to improve efficiency.

Attend key meetings to record minutes, track action items, and follow up with stakeholders on deadlines.

Support senior staff with research, data entry, or specialized administrative tasks as they arise.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must-Have:

Undergraduate or postgraduate student/graduate in relevant field

Ability to write concisely

Familiarity with Google Workspace and communication tools (Slack, Teams, or Zoom).
