ABOUT SOL'S ARC

Sol's ARC is a registered NGO working to ensure that every child learns and every adult earns through inclusive education and vocational skilling. For over 20 years, we have partnered with governments, donors, and communities to create systemic change and equity for persons with disabilities.

Our work spans inclusive education, vocational skilling, and systemic advocacy with government bodies at state and national levels. We have impacted over 4 lakh children through our programmes, with interventions running across 13 states in partnership with organisations such as Educate Girls, Teach for India, and Akanksha, and directly with state governments in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an Accounts Executive who will be the backbone of Sol's ARC's day-to-day financial operations. You will support accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions, accounts receivable and payable management, reconciliations, and periodic reporting — ensuring that our books are clean, current, and audit-ready.

This role demands both precision and ownership: you need to be as comfortable reconciling accounts in Tally ERP as tracking outstanding invoices with rigour. You will work closely with the Sr. Accounts Executive, gaining hands-on exposure to the full accounting cycle in a mission-driven organisation.

We are looking for 2–3 years of relevant experience. Candidates with a strong B.Com background and working knowledge of Tally ERP and MS Excel are encouraged to apply.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME

Approximately:

30%

Transaction processing — posting journal entries and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded

25%

Accounts receivable — updating records, issuing invoices, and tracking collections

20%

Accounts payable — processing payments, updating records, and performing reconciliations

15%

Reporting — preparing and submitting weekly and monthly financial reports

10%

Payroll and expense support — assisting with payroll records, expense reviews, and ad hoc accounting projects

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

Transaction & Journal Management

Post and process journal entries to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
Maintain the integrity and completeness of the general ledger across all accounts.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate books.
Support the preparation of financial statements and records as required by the Sr. Accounts Executive.

Accounts Receivable

Update and maintain accounts receivable records; issue invoices to donors, grantees, and other stakeholders.
Track and follow up on outstanding receivables to ensure timely collection.
Maintain organised records of all billing and receipt documentation.

Accounts Payable & Reconciliation

Update and process accounts payable entries; ensure accurate and timely vendor payments.
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Support compliance with internal approval and payment processes.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports for the review of senior team members.
Maintain organised, version-controlled records of all financial documents and working files.
Assist with audits and due diligence by keeping documentation audit-ready at all times.

Payroll & General Accounting Support

Assist with reviewing payroll records and expense reimbursements for accuracy and compliance.
Support senior team members on ad hoc accounting projects, analysis, and administrative tasks.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

The books are always current, accurate, and reconciled — with zero unexplained discrepancies.
Invoices are issued on time and receivables are tracked proactively.
Vendor payments are processed promptly and payables records are consistently up to date.
Monthly and weekly reports go out on schedule with zero factual or computational errors.
Financial documentation is organised, version-controlled, and audit-ready at all times.
The Sr. Accounts Executive and leadership feel well-supported and can focus on higher-level financial strategy.

WHAT'S HARD ABOUT THIS ROLE

Maintaining accuracy across multiple accounts simultaneously while managing tight reporting timelines.
Reconciling discrepancies and resolving accounting errors that arise from incomplete or delayed inputs.
Working across teams — program, HR, and operations — to gather payroll and expense data without formal authority.
Keeping documentation consistently organised and audit-ready in a fast-moving, high-priority environment.
Adapting to donor-specific compliance requirements and financial reporting formats that vary across grant sources.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications — Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) or equivalent qualification in Finance or Accounting.
Experience — 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience. Prior exposure to an NGO or social enterprise context is an added advantage.
Tally ERP proficiency — confident working in Tally ERP for day-to-day accounting tasks without hand-holding.
MS Excel skills — comfortable building and using spreadsheets for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
High attention to detail — you notice when numbers do not add up, when a date is wrong, or when a record is inconsistent.
Organised and reliable — you manage your own workload, meet deadlines proactively, and flag issues before they become problems.
Collaborative — you work well with teams across finance, programs, and operations and know how to get inputs from people efficiently.
Genuine alignment with Sol's ARC's mission of inclusive education and economic opportunity for persons with disabilities.

Preferred / Added Advantage:

Prior experience in an NGO or development sector organisation.
Familiarity with FCRA compliance requirements and donor financial reporting formats.
Knowledge of Marathi or another regional language relevant to our geographies.
Willingness to travel across rural and urban locations in India as required.
