JOB DESCRIPTION – FIELD SALES MANAGER

Job Title: Field Sales Manager
Department: Sales & Business Development
Reports To: Regional Sales Manager / Sales Head

1. Job Purpose

The Field Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through field sales activities, developing new customers, managing existing accounts, expanding market coverage, and achieving assigned sales targets. The role requires strong customer relationship management, business development, team coordination, market intelligence, and excellent field execution.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Sales & Revenue Management

Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Develop and execute territory-wise sales plans.
Generate new business opportunities through field visits, referrals, channel partners, architects, interior designers, contractors, builders, and corporate clients.
Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation to order closure and payment collection.
Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling products and services.
Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and ensure regular follow-up on open leads.

B. Field Sales & Customer Visits

Conduct regular field visits to customers, prospects, project sites, dealers, architects, and business partners.
Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate products/solutions.
Prepare quotations and commercial proposals in coordination with internal teams.
Conduct product demonstrations and presentations.
Handle customer objections and negotiate effectively to close orders.
Ensure timely communication and follow-up after customer meetings.

C. Business Development

Identify and develop new markets, territories, dealers, distributors, and institutional customers.
Build relationships with architects, interior designers, contractors, builders, project consultants, and other influencers.
Participate in exhibitions, trade shows, promotional activities, and customer events.
Conduct competitor and market analysis and share actionable insights with management.
Develop strategies to increase market penetration and brand visibility.

D. Customer Relationship Management

Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Resolve customer queries and coordinate with internal departments for timely resolution.
Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
Maintain accurate customer and sales information in CRM/MIS systems.

E. Sales Team Coordination

Guide and support Sales Executives/Business Development Executives in field activities.
Conduct regular review meetings and monitor individual/team performance.
Support team members in lead conversion, negotiations, and customer handling.
Accompany team members on important customer and project visits when required.
Ensure effective territory and customer coverage.

F. Sales MIS & Reporting

Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports.
Track leads, enquiries, quotations, conversions, orders, collections, and pending payments.
Maintain accurate sales pipeline and forecast reports.
Submit field visit reports and market feedback to management.
Monitor achievement against sales targets and prepare corrective action plans.

G. Coordination with Internal Departments

Coordinate with Design, Production, Operations, Installation, Finance, Stores, and Customer Service teams.
Ensure accurate communication of customer requirements and project specifications.
Follow up on order processing, delivery, installation, and after-sales service.
Ensure smooth handover of confirmed orders to the relevant internal teams.

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Monthly and annual sales achievement.
New customer acquisition.
Lead-to-order conversion rate.
Number of productive field visits.
New business generated.
Average order value.
Customer retention and repeat business.
Territory/market growth.
Sales pipeline value.
Collection/payment achievement.

4. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related field.
MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing will be an advantage.
4–8 years of experience in field sales/business development.
Experience in interior design, home décor, modular kitchen, wardrobes, furniture, building materials, construction, manufacturing, or related industries will be preferred.
Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

The candidate should be capable of independently developing a territory, generating new business, converting leads into orders, maintaining customer relationships, and consistently achieving revenue targets.
