Business Development Executive (BDE) – Upwork Specialist

Location: Chandigarh, India
Job Type: Full-Time (Onsite)
Shift Timing: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM IST (Saturday Off)
Experience Required: 1–3 Years (Mandatory Upwork Experience)
Compensation: ₹50,000 – ₹70,000 per month (On-Target Earnings)

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Business Development Executive (BDE) who has hands-on experience generating business through Upwork. This role is ideal for someone who understands how to identify quality opportunities, build client relationships, negotiate effectively, and consistently convert leads into long-term business.

Please Note: This position is strictly for candidates with proven Upwork Business Development experience. Candidates without practical Upwork experience will not be considered.

Role Overview

As a Business Development Executive, you will be responsible for driving revenue through Upwork by identifying relevant projects, engaging with international clients, understanding business requirements, preparing winning proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and successfully closing deals.

This is not just a proposal-writing role. We are looking for someone who can independently manage the complete client acquisition lifecycle and contribute directly to the company's business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Upwork Business Development

You will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities through Upwork.

Responsibilities include:

Search and identify relevant projects based on our service offerings.
Analyze project requirements and assess business opportunities.
Prepare customised, high-quality proposals.
Submit competitive bids with appropriate pricing and timelines.
Respond promptly to client invitations and messages.
Build a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
Maintain a high proposal response rate and conversion ratio.
Track connects usage and maximize ROI on Upwork activities.

2. Client Communication & Requirement Gathering

You will be expected to communicate directly with international clients and build confidence through professional interactions.

Responsibilities include:

Conduct discovery calls with prospective clients.
Understand client pain points and business objectives.
Gather functional and technical requirements.
Prepare structured requirement briefs.
Clarify project scope, timelines, and expectations.
Maintain regular follow-ups throughout the sales cycle.

3. Proposal Preparation & Deal Closure

Work closely with internal technical teams to convert client requirements into winning proposals.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinate with the Business Analyst and Technical Team to define project scope.
Obtain effort estimations and project timelines.
Prepare customized commercial proposals.
Present solutions to clients.
Negotiate pricing, scope, payment milestones, and timelines.
Handle objections professionally.
Close deals and ensure successful contract confirmation.

4. Project Handover

After successful deal closure:

Prepare complete project documentation.
Conduct smooth project handover to the Delivery Team.
Ensure all client expectations are documented.
Coordinate with Project Managers for a seamless transition.

5. Client Relationship Management

Building long-term client relationships is equally important.

Responsibilities include:

Maintain regular communication with existing clients.
Build trust and long-term partnerships.
Generate repeat business.
Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
Ensure an excellent client experience throughout the engagement.

6. CRM & Sales Reporting

Maintain accurate sales records and reports.

Responsibilities include:

Update CRM on a daily basis.
Maintain proposal tracker.
Track pipeline stages.
Record meetings and follow-ups.
Maintain revenue forecasts.
Submit periodic sales reports.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

1–3 years of proven experience in Upwork Business Development.
Demonstrated experience in winning international software development projects through Upwork.
Experience handling complete sales cycles independently.
Experience communicating with US, UK, Australian, or European clients.
Experience negotiating project commercials.
Experience coordinating with technical teams for estimates and proposals.

Work Schedule

Office Hours: 11:00 AM – 6:30 PM (Onsite)
Client Support Hours: 6:30 PM onwards (Remote, approximately 2–3 hours) for client meetings, follow-ups, and discussions with international clients across different time zones.
