§ Oversee and strategically head the Ferro Alloy plant process control, maintenance, administration, forecasting and planning, raw material selection, procurement, and organized utilization for quality output.
§ Develop and implement short and long-term operational strategies in line with company’s vision and initiatives to achieve business objectives and drive growth in the Ferro Alloy industry. Identify market opportunities, assess competition, and make informed decisions to ensure the long-term success of the organization.
§ Identification of bottlenecks and market constraints, set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, supporting employee development and engagement also, development of plans accepting change.
§ Promote a strong safety culture and enforce health and safety protocols throughout the Plant operations and Maintenance.
§ Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure on time cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, equipment, and services. Manage relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts on case to case basis.
§ Identify and mitigate problems and risks related to production, supply chain, safety, and compliance. Develop contingency plans, monitor industry trends, and adapt strategies to minimize potential risks and disruptions to operations.
§ Provide regular reports to senior management on production performance, financial results, and key metrics. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication of goals, expectations, and progress.
§ Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control, and in hands on ferro alloy production/quality/maintenance practices with strong analytical and critical thinking.
§ sound knowledge of Ferro Alloy Furnace and ancillaries, technical parameters, electrical aspects, lining and refractory works, Process parameters and alteration, project management, and product change over with minimal loss.
§ Hands on operation with different furnace designs and capacity, sound knowledge of process KPIs and standard parameters and excellent understanding of high temperature chemistry and metallurgical aspects with continuous improvement mindset.
§ Development of SOPs, provide training and conduct recruitment for quality and result oriented standard operation.
§ Ensure implementation and compliance with all statutory requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies related to health, safety, and sustainability.
1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and manage overall plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, administration, utilities, and safety functions to ensure uninterrupted plant performance.
· Develop annual operating plans, production schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies to achieve organizational objectives related to productivity, quality, and profitability.
· Monitor furnace operations, process parameters, electrical systems, refractory performance, and ancillary equipment to ensure optimum furnace efficiency and equipment reliability.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, reducing operational costs, minimizing downtime, and improving product quality.
· Review daily production reports, key performance indicators (KPIs), maintenance records, and quality metrics to identify areas requiring corrective and preventive actions.
· Coordinate with procurement and commercial teams for forecasting, planning, and timely procurement of raw materials, consumables, spares, and capital equipment.
· Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability and improve asset life cycle management.
· Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and best practices for all critical operational activities.
· Mentor, coach, and develop departmental heads and plant personnel through performance management, succession planning, training, and capability-building initiatives.
· Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among production, maintenance, quality, finance, HR, and supply chain departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
· Monitor plant expenditures and control operational costs through effective budgeting, variance analysis, and optimization initiatives.
· Lead audits related to ISO and similar such certifications as per global standards & practices standards, safety systems, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance, ensuring timely closure of observations.
· Support expansion projects, modernization initiatives, commissioning activities, and implementation of new technologies to enhance plant competitiveness.
· Represent the plant before customers, vendors, consultants, government authorities, and senior management whenever required.
Education
Level of Education
Ø BE, B Tech, Diploma in Electronics Engineering, Diploma in metallurgy/ chemical/ electrical/ mining or B.Sc/ M. Sc from reputed institutes.
Ø Additional Qualification – M. Tech / MBA (production, Operation, HRM ) etc shall not be a binding but will be given added preference.
Ø Any other educational background but having rich experience in handling such position can be considered.
Experience
· Minimum 20–25 years of progressive experience in Ferro Alloy manufacturing operations, with at least 8–10 years in a senior leadership role managing integrated plant operations.
· Proven experience in managing production, maintenance, quality, safety, and administration functions within a Ferro Alloy plant.
· Demonstrated exposure to business process improvements, cost optimization initiatives, project execution, and team leadership in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience in handling multiple furnace capacities and technologies, with strong understanding of process KPIs and productivity enhancement initiatives.
Technical Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of Ferro Alloy manufacturing processes and furnace operations.
- Strong knowledge of submerged arc furnace technology, furnace designs, and process optimization techniques.
- Expertise in high-temperature metallurgy, reduction reactions, slag chemistry, and process control.
- Sound knowledge of refractory selection, lining practices, and furnace maintenance.
- Understanding of electrical systems associated with ferro alloy plants, including transformers, capacitor banks, and power distribution systems.
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and metallurgical testing requirements.
- Experience in project management, commissioning, and plant expansion activities.
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP systems and MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and similar such standard and practices.
