Sustainability Consultant

About the Role

We are seeking a Sustainability Consultant to support the growth and delivery of our sustainability and climate advisory business.

You will work with clients across a range of sustainability and climate priorities, develop new opportunities, contribute to tenders and proposals, and build relationships across clients, industry associations, partners and professional networks.

The role is suited to someone who brings both sustainability expertise and strong industry connections, and who wants to progressively build greater client ownership, commercial responsibility and subject-matter expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

Identify and develop new business opportunities across India and globally through direct outreach, tenders, proposals, industry associations, professional networks, partners and existing client relationships.
Leverage an established network of industry contacts, associations and other relevant stakeholders to generate and develop new opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients and decision-makers, understand their needs and identify opportunities where the organisation can add value.
Contribute to proposals, tenders, presentations and client pitches across different teams, helping shape compelling and relevant solutions.
Support opportunities through the business development cycle, from initial engagement and qualification through to proposal and conversion.

Partners & Market Engagement

Support existing and prospective partners in developing opportunities, responding to client needs and shaping relevant solutions.
Build relationships with industry associations, professional bodies and relevant networks to strengthen market engagement and create opportunities.
Represent the organisation professionally in client, partner, industry and sustainability forums.
Maintain awareness of emerging sustainability priorities, market developments and client needs to inform consulting and business development activity.

Client & Sustainability Consulting

Engage with clients to understand their sustainability, climate and business priorities and translate these into practical approaches and solutions.
Support the delivery of consulting engagements through research, analysis, assessments, stakeholder engagement, reporting, recommendations and client presentations.
Contribute to engagements across areas such as emissions, ESG, decarbonisation, climate risk, energy transition, sustainability strategy and related sustainability priorities, depending on client requirements.
Develop clear, practical and commercially relevant insights that help clients make informed decisions and achieve their sustainability objectives.
Build trusted client relationships and contribute to successful project delivery and client outcomes.

Subject-Matter Expertise

Build broad knowledge across sustainability and climate disciplines while developing deeper expertise in selected areas.
Contribute insights, knowledge and perspectives that strengthen the organisation's consulting capability and market positioning.
Progressively take ownership of specialist areas and develop into a trusted subject-matter expert for clients, partners and the wider team.

Skills & Experience

3-10 years experience in sustainability, climate change, ESG, environmental consulting, energy or a related field.
Basic understanding of sustainability and climate concepts, with exposure to areas such as ESG, decarbonisation, climate risk, energy transition or sustainability strategy.
An established professional network and strong industry connections relevant to sustainability, climate, ESG, energy, business or related sectors.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, partners and industry contacts.
Strong commercial awareness and a genuine interest in business development and relationship-led growth.
Experience contributing to tenders, proposals, presentations or client pitches.
Strong written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills.
Ability to understand client needs and communicate sustainability concepts clearly to business and technical audiences.
Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of opportunities and deliverables.
Ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple priorities independently.

The successful candidate will help strengthen client relationships, create and progress new business opportunities, contribute to winning work, deliver high-quality sustainability outcomes and build the organisation's market presence.

Over time, the role will provide the opportunity to take greater ownership of clients and opportunities and establish recognised subject-matter expertise in selected sustainability and climate areas.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From ₹1,000,000.00 per year
