Job Summary

As an Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing delivery of high-quality, innovative products and solutions. Your role will involve strategic planning, technical leadership, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to drive the development of scalable and reliable systems.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

Align technical solutions with strategic organisational goals and long-term vision.
Lead and implement detailed technical solutions for complex, organization-wide projects including end-to-end holistic solution design (interfacing systems).
Develop and drive technology strategy and roadmap in collaboration with the Subdomain Tech Lead.
Provide high-level analysis for planning, and initiatives implementation approaches.
Expert in solution sizing, estimation, and project forecasting
Support audit reviews and exercises.
Drive RFP and vendor evaluation exercise along with PO to ensure SCB technical standards are met

Business

Act as a senior escalation point for technical issues.
Promote engineering craftsmanship and drive strategic business value.
Collaborate with PO and align technical solutions to support prioritized backlogs to deliver value driven capabilities.
Oversee technical delivery and excellence across multiple squads or hives.
Influence prioritization for technology backlog and strategic initiatives.
Knowledge on Wealth domain and technology would be added advantage. (knowledge on MS Dynamic is preferred).

Processes

Improve engineering processes to drive efficiency and collaboration.
Analyse and mitigate dependencies to enable quality and speed of delivery.
Drive solution standardization and service reusability.
Define frameworks and standards for product.
Actively contribute to process improvement and innovation
Collaborate with IT Change and Release Managers to develop strategic delivery and release plans with technical dependencies.
Ensure high-level technical consistency of solution with business and enterprise technology standards.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within squads.

Risk Management

Mitigate technical risks and ensure high-quality delivery.
Ensure compliance with application security and regulatory standards.
Manage technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Ensure compliance with bank compliance guidelines & standards (e.g. data protection)

Governance

Ensure product and solution development is aligned with enterprise architecture and standards.
Maintain consistency in technical practices across squads.
Lead governance of application/platform-specific technical standards.
Address tech compliance (ESDLC) requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Represent sub domain in relevant architecture forum and drive vendor solutions in accordance with organizational standards.

Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices in architecture.
Ability to design scalable, reliable, and secure solutions based on extensive industry experience.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, version control systems).
Experience in setting up and maintaining engineering practices to high standards, with tangible examples from previous roles.
Ability to drive technical conversations and provide mentorship based on a wealth of practical experience.

Our Ideal Candidate

8–12 years of Java development experience, with strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, and building enterprise-grade applications focused on performance optimization and scalability.
Advanced React.js and frontend development skills, including Redux, TypeScript, modern JavaScript (ES6+), responsive design, and hands-on experience with build tools (Webpack, npm) and modern UI/UX frameworks.
Deep Kubernetes and containerization experience, including Docker, Kubernetes cluster management, Helm charts, service mesh technologies, and managing container orchestration in production environments.
Strong microservices architecture expertise, including API design (REST/GraphQL), event-driven architecture, message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ), distributed systems patterns, and inter-service communication protocols.
Cloud-native and DevOps proficiency with solid experience in AWS/Azure services, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana), and database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).
Good-to-have: Understanding of AI/ML concepts and ecosystem (e.g., working with AI-powered APIs, basic ML model lifecycle, and integration of AI services into enterprise applications).

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Relevant certifications in software development, project management, or Agile methodologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, PMP, Certified ScrumMaster)
