Job Description — Social Media Strategist

Experience: 3–4 Years

Department: Marketing

Location: Mumbai

About the Role

We are looking for a creative, energetic, and execution-focused Social Media Strategist who lives and breathes social media.

This role is for someone who can think strategically but is equally comfortable getting on the ground, attending shoots and events, creating content, working with creative teams, and ensuring that ideas actually get executed.

You will be responsible for managing the brand’s social media presence across platforms, developing content ideas, supporting social strategy, driving execution, and ensuring the brand consistently produces fresh, relevant, engaging, and culturally connected content.

Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute social media strategies aligned with overall brand and marketing objectives.
Build monthly and weekly content calendars across relevant platforms.
Identify content opportunities based on trends, conversations, cultural moments, competitors, and audience behaviour.
Develop platform-specific content strategies for Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
Balance brand storytelling, product communication, educational content, entertainment, trends, and community-led content.
Track social media performance and use insights to improve future content.

2. Content Ideation & Creative Execution

Own the day-to-day flow of social content from idea → brief → production → publishing → performance analysis.
Generate creative, entertaining, relatable, and platform-native content ideas.
Develop concepts for:
Reels
Static posts
Carousels
Stories
Short-form videos
UGC
Trend-led content
Campaigns
Product-led content
Write or contribute to creative briefs, hooks, captions, scripts, and content directions.
Ensure content is visually strong, engaging, and aligned with the brand’s tone and identity.

3. Shoots & On-Ground Content

Be actively involved in shoots, events, activations, launches, and brand experiences across Mumbai.
Capture relevant behind-the-scenes footage, creator content, event moments, interviews, product moments, and real-time social content.
Identify content opportunities on-ground and convert them into reels, stories, posts, and other social assets.
Work closely with photographers, videographers, creators, and production teams during shoots.
Ensure that every shoot or event generates sufficient content for social media.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with multiple internal teams to ensure smooth and timely content execution, including:

Graphic Designers — visual concepts, static creatives, carousels, campaign assets.
Video Editors — reels, short-form videos, edits, motion graphics, trend-led content.
Marketing Team — campaigns, launches, promotions, brand communication.
Influencer/Creator Team — creator briefs, UGC, collaborations, content requirements.
Product/E-commerce Teams — product communication, launches, offers, and campaigns.
Events Team — event coverage and real-time content creation.

Act as the central point of coordination for social content, ensuring ideas move from concept to final execution without delays.

5. Trend & Cultural Intelligence

Stay updated with the latest Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and social media trends.
Identify emerging formats, sounds, memes, creators, conversations, and cultural moments relevant to the brand.
Quickly turn relevant trends into brand-appropriate content.
Understand what makes content shareable, saveable, relatable, and conversation-worthy.

6. Community & Social Presence

Monitor comments, conversations, mentions, and audience interactions.
Identify opportunities to increase engagement and build an active community.
Collaborate with the wider team to ensure the brand maintains a consistent and engaging social presence.

7. Analytics & Optimization

Monitor social media performance across platforms.
Track metrics such as:
Reach
Engagement
Views
Watch time
Shares
Saves
Follower growth
Content performance
Identify high-performing and underperforming content.
Recommend changes to content strategy based on performance insights.
Prepare regular social media performance reports.

Required Experience & Skills

3–4 years of experience in Social Media, Content, Digital Marketing, or a similar role.
Strong hands-on experience managing multiple social media platforms.
Strong understanding of Instagram and short-form video content.
Experience in content planning, social media calendars, and campaign execution.
Experience working with graphic designers, video editors, creators, photographers, and production teams.
Strong communication and project management skills.
Good understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics.
Strong creative writing, ideation, and storytelling skills.
Ability to independently take a content idea from concept to execution.

Preferred Background

Experience in D2C, FMCG, Wellness, Nutrition, Beauty, Lifestyle, Fashion, Consumer Brands, or Startups will be preferred.
