Full job description

Position Summary

We are looking for a responsible and proactive Assistant Branch Manager to support the smooth functioning of our branches in and around Cochin.

The candidate will assist in managing day-to-day branch operations, staff, customer service, documentation, accounts coordination, and shipment movement. The role requires a hands-on approach, good leadership skills, and the ability to resolve operational issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities1. Branch Operations

Assist the Branch Manager in managing daily branch operations.
Monitor booking, pickup, delivery, dispatch, and transhipment activities.
Ensure consignments are processed and dispatched within the prescribed TAT.
Monitor pending, undelivered, returned, and delayed consignments.
Coordinate with destination and connecting branches for smooth shipment movement.
Ensure proper handling and documentation of consignments.

2. Staff Supervision

Supervise branch staff and delivery/pickup personnel.
Allocate daily duties and monitor staff attendance and productivity.
Guide staff in following company procedures and operational standards.
Address routine staff issues and report major concerns to the Branch Manager.
Encourage discipline, teamwork, and accountability within the branch.

3. Customer Service

Handle customer enquiries and service-related complaints.
Ensure timely response to customer issues.
Assist in resolving delivery, pickup, billing, and tracking-related complaints.
Maintain good relationships with regular and important customers.
Ensure a professional customer experience at the branch.

4. Accounts & Administration

Assist with daily billing, collections, cash handling, and account-related activities.
Coordinate with the Accounts Department for reconciliation and outstanding matters.
Ensure timely submission of branch accounts and supporting documents.
Monitor branch expenses and maintain proper records.
Ensure all required operational and administrative documents are maintained properly.

5. Problem Solving & Coordination

Identify and resolve routine operational issues at branch level.
Coordinate with other branches, hubs, Regional Office, and Head Office when required.
Follow up on delayed or problematic consignments until resolution.
Escalate critical operational issues to the Branch Manager/Regional Management without delay.
Take appropriate action during urgent operational situations.

6. Reporting & MIS

Maintain daily operational records and reports.
Assist in preparing branch MIS reports.
Monitor shipment volumes, pending consignments, revenue, collections, and other branch performance indicators.
Provide accurate information to the Branch Manager and Regional Management.

Candidate Profile

Graduate in any discipline preferred.
2–5 years of experience in courier, logistics, transportation, retail operations, administration, or a similar field preferred.
Candidates with relevant supervisory experience will have an advantage.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage staff and coordinate with multiple teams.
Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.
Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
Willingness to travel between branches when required.
Knowledge of the Cochin/local area and logistics operations will be an advantage.
Valid driving licence will be an advantage.

Ensure accurate billing, collections, and documentation.
Resolve customer issues promptly.
Maintain effective coordination with other branches and the Regional Office.
Support the Branch Manager in achieving operational and business targets.
