Visiting Faculty – Business Communication

Location: Mumbai – Patkar Varde College, Goregaon West
Institution: SDBI – School of Data Science & Business Intelligence
Engagement Type: Visiting Faculty / Part-Time Industry Expert
Course Duration: 60 Hours per Semester
Student Audience: Undergraduate Students (B.Sc. Data Science)

Role Description

We invite applications for the position of Visiting Faculty – Business Communication for the B.Sc. Data Science program at our Mumbai campus located at Patkar Varde College, Goregaon West.

Effective communication is a critical skill for success in today's professional environment. This course aims to help students develop strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and professional communication skills required in academic, corporate, and entrepreneurial settings.

The ideal candidate should possess significant industry experience and be capable of connecting communication concepts with real workplace scenarios. The faculty member should focus on practical communication skills, professional etiquette, workplace interactions, presentations, group discussions, interviews, and business correspondence that enhance students' employability and career readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Delivery

Deliver engaging and interactive sessions in Business Communication.
Teach verbal, written, interpersonal, and professional communication skills.
Conduct practical activities involving presentations, group discussions, public speaking, and workplace communication scenarios.
Develop students' confidence in professional communication and workplace interactions.
Introduce communication techniques used in corporate, business, consulting, technology, and client-facing environments.
Design and deliver assignments, role plays, case studies, and communication exercises aligned with industry expectations.

Academic Responsibilities

Support internal assessments, presentations, and communication-based evaluations.
Coordinate with the Academic Team to ensure timely syllabus completion.
Maintain academic standards and student engagement throughout the semester.
Provide constructive feedback to help students improve communication effectiveness.

Industry Integration

Share real-world communication challenges and workplace scenarios.
Introduce best practices in professional communication, business etiquette, and stakeholder interactions.
Guide students on communication expectations during internships, placements, client meetings, and corporate interactions.
Incorporate examples from industry, consulting, technology, startups, and business environments.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communication, English, Management, Business Administration, Human Resources, Journalism, Education, or a related discipline.
Strong industry experience involving business communication, client interactions, consulting, training, corporate communications, human resources, sales, marketing, or leadership roles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking abilities.
Ability to mentor students in professional communication and workplace readiness.
Prior teaching, corporate training, mentoring, or learning and development experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and classroom engagement capabilities.

Experience (Preferred)

3+ years of industry experience in corporate communication, client management, consulting, training, human resources, business development, sales, marketing, or related functions.
Experience working in professional business environments requiring strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Prior teaching, mentoring, corporate training, or leadership development experience preferred.
Experience conducting workshops on communication, employability skills, presentations, or workplace readiness will be an added advantage.
