Full job description

We are a 3PL and Supply Chain Solutions company with operations across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana providing integrated solutions in 3PL, contract logistics, warehousing, transportation, manpower and value-added services.

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Assistant General Manager – Sales & Business Development to lead business development and revenue growth in Chennai, Tamilnadu.

The candidate will be responsible for new client acquisition, business development, revenue generation, key account management, market expansion, commercial negotiations and profitability.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in B2B sales within 3PL/ contract logistics/ warehousing/ logistics or supply chain/ Transportation with a proven track record of acquiring new customers and generating profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, business growth and profitability targets.
Identify and acquire new customers for 3PL, contract logistics, warehousing, distribution, transportation and value-added services.
Generate leads through direct sales, networking, referrals, industry associations, corporate contacts and other business channels.
Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline and ensure timely conversion of qualified opportunities.
Conduct customer meetings, presentations, site visits and business negotiations.
Build strong relationships with Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Operations and senior management teams of prospective customers.

New Business Acquisition

Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation to contract closure.
Understand customer requirements and develop appropriate 3PL / warehousing solutions.
Coordinate with Operations, Finance, HR, Projects, IT and Legal for solution design and costing.
Prepare and present commercial proposals, quotations, RFP/RFQ responses and business presentations.
Lead commercial negotiations and support finalization of pricing, SLA, contract terms and other commercial conditions.

Commercial & Pricing

Evaluate the commercial viability and profitability of prospective business.
Work with Marketing, Finance and Operations Team to prepare accurate costing and pricing.
Ensure appropriate gross margin and contribution margin on new business.
Participate in negotiations relating to pricing, credit period, escalation, SLA, penalties, security deposit, contract period and other commercial terms.
Ensure that commercially agreed commitments are operationally feasible.

Key Account Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing key customers.
Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
Increase business from existing customers through additional warehousing, transportation, manpower, VAS and other supply chain services.
Support contract renewals, rate revisions and scope expansion.
Monitor customer satisfaction and support resolution of commercial and service-related issues.

Market Development

Develop the company's presence in Chennai and key logistics/industrial locations across Tamilnadu.
Identify new industries, customers and market opportunities.
Monitor competitor pricing, warehouse rates, logistics trends and customer requirements.
Develop opportunities in sectors such as:
FMCG, FMCD / Consumer Durables, Electronics, E-commerce, Retail, Automotive & Auto Components, Pharmaceuticals, Telecom, Manufacturing, Electrical & Consumer Products, Industrial Products, etc.

Sales Reporting & CRM

Maintain accurate records of leads, prospects, opportunities, proposals and closures.
Prepare weekly and monthly sales pipeline and forecast reports.
Monitor sales performance against targets.
Maintain CRM / ERP records and ensure effective pipeline management.
Provide management with market intelligence and business development updates.

Client Onboarding

Coordinate with Operations and other internal departments for successful onboarding of new customers.
Ensure proper handover of scope of work, SOP, SLA, manpower requirements, warehouse requirements, commercials and implementation timelines.
Ensure alignment between sales commitments and operational execution.

Candidate Profile

Age between 30-50 Years

Education

Graduate / Postgraduate in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Engineering or related discipline.
MBA / PGDM in Marketing, Sales, Logistics or Supply Chain or in Corporate Sales will be an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 7-10 years of total experience in B2B Sales / Business Development.
Strong experience in 3PL / Contract Logistics / Warehousing / Logistics / Supply Chain preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial / senior business development role preferred.
Candidates from FMCG, FMCD, E-commerce, Retail or Manufacturing, Transportation, Corporate Sales with strong B2B logistics solution-selling experience may also be considered.

Required Skills

Strong B2B Sales & Business Development skills.
Proven track record in new client acquisition and revenue generation.
Strong understanding of 3PL and warehouse operations.
Good understanding of logistics costing, pricing and profitability.
Strong negotiation and closing skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong customer relationship management.
Ability to interact with CXO / VP / Head of Supply Chain / Procurement / Logistics.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Target-oriented and self-driven.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to travel within Karnataka and Pan India.
Adept in English, Hindi and Local Language.
