Job Description:

Job Title: Deputy General Manager – Packaging Procurement Excellence & Governance

Purpose of Role

To lead and transform the Packaging Procurement function into a system-driven, compliant, and performance-oriented organization through robust procurement governance, SAP discipline, supplier management, ESG/PWM compliance, quality systems integration, and data-driven decision-making, while building a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the procurement team.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Governance & Process Excellence

Establish and drive procurement policies, SOPs, approval workflows, procurement controls, and governance mechanisms.
Ensure strict adherence to Purchase Requisition (PR), Purchase Order (PO), contract management, and procurement approval processes.
Drive process standardization, digitization, and continuous improvement initiatives across packaging procurement.
Establish procurement KPIs, management review mechanisms, and performance monitoring systems.

SAP, Systems & MIS

Strengthen SAP/ERP discipline across procurement operations.
Ensure accuracy and governance of vendor masters, material masters, contracts, procurement records, and transactional data.
Develop and institutionalize procurement MIS, dashboards, KPI reporting, spend analytics, and management review systems.
Drive automation and system-based procurement decision-making.

Procurement Planning & Supplier Management

Lead procurement planning aligned with business forecasts, production requirements, and sourcing strategies.
Drive supplier onboarding, evaluation, performance monitoring, development, and governance processes.
Develop alternate sources, supplier capability enhancement programs, and business continuity plans.
Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective and preventive actions where required.

Compliance, ESG & Quality Systems

Ensure compliance with procurement policies, statutory requirements, audit requirements, regulatory obligations, and corporate governance standards.
Drive supplier compliance related to ESG, PWM, sustainability commitments, responsible sourcing, and regulatory declarations.
Work closely with Quality, Packaging Development, Manufacturing, and Sustainability teams to ensure adherence to quality management systems and supplier quality requirements.
Maintain complete documentation and audit readiness across procurement activities.
Drive closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Partner with Packaging Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Sustainability teams to ensure alignment of procurement practices with business objectives.
Support packaging innovation, sustainability initiatives, supplier qualification, and business continuity requirements.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop the Packaging Procurement team.
Establish accountability, KPI-driven performance management, and process discipline.
Build analytical, compliance, systems, and governance capabilities within the team.
Drive a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualification

Graduate in Engineering, Packaging Technology, Supply Chain, Commerce, Finance, or related discipline.
MBA / PGDM preferred.

Experience

12–18 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Packaging Procurement, Procurement Excellence, Supply Chain Governance, or Procurement Operations.
Strong hands-on experience in SAP/ERP systems, procurement governance, compliance management, process transformation, and team leadership.
Exposure to ESG, PWM, sustainability compliance, quality systems, and supplier governance preferred.
