Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and customer-oriented Restaurant Captain to lead the Food & Beverage service team and ensure exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate will supervise restaurant operations, coordinate with kitchen staff, maintain service standards, and ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the restaurant and service staff.
Welcome guests, assist with seating arrangements, and ensure excellent customer service.
Assign duties to waiters/stewards and monitor their performance.
Ensure food and beverages are served according to hotel service standards.
Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
Coordinate with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely order preparation and service.
Monitor table turnover and ensure efficient service during peak hours.
Train, mentor, and guide new service staff on SOPs and hospitality standards.
Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and proper table setup in the dining area.
Monitor stock of cutlery, crockery, linens, and other service equipment.
Prepare duty rosters and assist in staff scheduling.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
Assist with banquet functions, special events, and buffet operations when required.
Support billing, cash handling, and daily closing activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management or Hospitality Management preferred.
3–6 years of experience in Food & Beverage Service, with at least 1–2 years as a Restaurant Captain or Senior Steward in a hotel or resort.

Required Skills

Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Customer service and guest relationship management.
Knowledge of restaurant operations and F&B service standards.
Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
Time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with POS systems.
Good command of English (additional languages are an advantage).
