About The Company
Simplified Startup is the B2B services brand of Ecommerce Collections, a U.S.-based portfolio company. We offer eight productized service lines that take a small business from formation through growth — startup consulting, web development, digital marketing, AI & automation, sales & lead generation, talent & staffing, accounting & bookkeeping, and AI business consulting — all under one brand.
We're remote and async-first, with heavy overlap during U.S. Eastern business hours. The team today is ~15 people across India and the U.S. We use Slack, Google Workspace, Notion, GitHub, and HubSpot. We document processes, communicate directly, and value people who take ownership of outcomes rather than waiting to be told what to do.
The Role
You'll run the Simplified Startup business unit day-to-day — driving revenue, managing delivery, developing the team, and building the operational engine across all eight service lines. This is a senior operational leadership role with real authority: you manage the P&L, you drive client acquisition and retention, you maintain the quality bar across every service line, and you're directly accountable for turning built infrastructure into a revenue-generating business.
You'll work closely with the Founder on strategy and priorities, and you'll be the person who translates strategic direction into execution — coordinating the offshore team, managing cross-functional delivery, and ensuring that every service line performs against its targets. This role is the operational backbone of the business: the person who makes the machine run and keeps it running as we grow.
The Business You'll Manage
Simplified Startup operates eight service lines, each with defined products, pricing, and delivery processes:
- Startup Consulting — entity formation guidance, launch planning, and business advisory for new founders. The entry point that feeds clients into our other services.
- Web Development — conversion-focused website builds at three productized tiers, with recurring maintenance plans. Clients graduate from builds into ongoing care and marketing.
- Digital Marketing — the flagship service line. Brand identity, website builds, launch campaigns, monthly growth retainers, SEO, conversion optimization, content, and reputation management. This is the primary near-term revenue engine.
- AI & Automation — audit-first custom automation and AI implementation, with honest risk framing and ROI-calculated sales. We tell clients when not to automate.
- Sales & Lead Generation — intelligence-led outbound prospecting, LinkedIn content, and multi-channel pipeline building for B2B clients.
- Talent & Staffing — offshore talent placement and managed staffing with U.S.-Eastern time zone overlap and compliant employment structures.
- Accounting & Bookkeeping — QuickBooks-native monthly bookkeeping with a mandatory U.S. review layer, focused on data ownership and transparency.
- AI Business Consulting — founder-led AI advisory, currently in controlled soft-launch with a defined activation plan.
These service lines are designed to cross-sell — a formation client becomes a web client, then a marketing retainer, then a bookkeeping account. Building and optimizing those client pathways is a core part of the role.
What You'll Do
- Manage P&L performance across all eight service lines: revenue growth, cost management, margin targets, and capacity utilization
- Drive client acquisition — work directly with the sales function to build pipeline, qualify opportunities, and convert prospects into paying clients
- Manage service delivery quality and client satisfaction across every active service line, ensuring consistent standards regardless of who's delivering
- Manage and develop the offshore team — some members directly, others through functional leads — assigning priorities, tracking performance, and ensuring the team operates as one cohesive unit rather than isolated functions
- Prioritize across service lines: recommend where team capacity gets deployed for the highest revenue impact, and sequence service launches as the business scales
- Ensure every client has one clear point of accountability, even when multiple specialists deliver the work
- Run weekly business reviews: pipeline health, delivery status, revenue, capacity, and margins
- Build and refine the cross-sell paths between service lines to maximize client lifetime value
- Coordinate with the Founder on strategy, pricing decisions, and new service development
- Coordinate with the parent company's cross-functional operations team on shared resources, infrastructure, and cross-team dependencies
- Report on business performance with real numbers: revenue, pipeline value, per-service margins, and team utilization
What You're Walking Into
We've invested heavily in building the delivery infrastructure before hiring the operational leader to run it. Here's what exists today:
- A complete delivery system: defined product scopes, standard operating procedures, quality checklists, templates, and AI-assisted workflows — built so a specialist can produce client-grade work from Day 1
- A marketing team lead managing digital marketing delivery and our first proof-generating client engagement
- A sales specialist building the CRM pipeline and beginning outbound work
- A design specialist leading brand and UX/UI
- A development team building web projects
- A PM and EA supporting operational coordination
- A large, content-rich website that is code-complete and nearing launch
- Defined pricing across all service lines with bundling discounts and portfolio-wide controls
- A health & wellness vertical focus with a live client generating our first measurable case study results
- Zero external B2B revenue — the mandate is converting built capability into paying clients
You are not starting from scratch. You are starting from a built system that needs an operational leader to drive it to revenue.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years in operations management, agency operations, professional services, or business unit management — you've managed a P&L or run the operations of a business unit before
- A revenue-generation track record — you've been directly involved in building pipeline, supporting or closing deals, or growing a services business from early stage
- Cross-functional management experience — you've coordinated across marketing, sales, delivery, and operations, not just managed one function
- Strong financial and operational discipline — you manage by numbers, track unit economics, and hold people accountable to measurable outcomes
- Excellent written and spoken English — you'll communicate directly with U.S. business owners, report to the Founder, and produce client-facing materials
- Team management and development skills — you've built, managed, and developed remote teams, and you know how to get consistent performance from people across functions and time zones
- Comfort with real ambiguity — some service lines are mature and ready to sell tomorrow, others need development; you prioritize ruthlessly and adapt as you learn
What Sets Strong Candidates Apart
- Agency or professional services operations background — you understand utilization, billable capacity, margins, and client lifecycle management
- Direct experience with one or more of our service areas: digital marketing, web development, business consulting, staffing, bookkeeping, or AI/automation
- Experience scaling a B2B services business from pre-revenue or early-revenue to sustained growth
- HubSpot or CRM pipeline management experience
- Understanding of how AI tools accelerate professional service delivery
- Experience managing remote, distributed teams across multiple time zones — especially offshore teams serving U.S. clients
- Startup or portfolio-company experience — you've operated where resources are tight and speed matters
